Kaitlyn K.
Tutor, New York
Philadelphia born and raised, Kate attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated with a B.A. in Sociology and minors in Music and Cognitive Science. A life-long learner and teacher, she got her first paid tutoring job in middle school, guiding a younger student through fractions and decimals. Since that first student, Kate has worked with 100+ students ranging from preschoolers to college students in both individual and classroom settings. She is particularly proud of her non-traditional experiences as an educator, including a semester as a Teaching Assistant for an Academically Based Community Service Course in college, several years working with young children in foster care, and two summers spent with high school students in an instructional kitchen and on an urban farm. When not nerding out about the SAT and ACT, she can generally be found practicing one of several musical instruments strewn around her house, playing sports or board games with her two children, or reading a disconcerting amount of science fiction.
